How do I repay the loan?

You start repaying your HELP debt through the taxation system once your income is above the compulsory repayment threshold (which is adjusted each year) – even if you are still studying. For the 2015–16 income year the threshold will be $54,126.

HELP debts are managed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Please contact the ATO on 13 28 61 to find out the balance of your HELP debt. Be sure to have your tax file number (TFN) handy when you call.
